The Specialist High Skills Major program is a Ministry of Education initiative designed for students entering any post secondary destination.
The program allows students to focus some of their credits on a particular sector, gain valuable work experience, earn specialized certifications, participate in reach ahead and career explorations opportunities and earn a Specialized Ontario Secondary School Diploma. Huron Heights offers the Specialist High Skills Diploma in the following six sectors:
- arts and culture (can be earned in conjunction with or separately from Arts Huron Certificate)
- construction
- health and wellness
- hospitality and tourism
- manufacturing
- transportation
Students should apply in Grade 10 during the Course Requests period (February) and select appropriate courses based on the pathway charts. Additional information can be found on the back of the Master Calendar distributed during course selection time as well as in Career Cruising.

How to Apply
- Complete the application form (also available in MyPathway Planner [under Dashboard --Resources])
- Select the appropriate courses.
- Begin by selecting an appropriate pathway and sector on the right hand side of your screen in the IPP course planner
- Check the requirements in MyPathway Planner (Dashboard--Resources)
