Music

The Music Program at Huron Heights SS focuses on developing the skills necessary for successful musical expression. We believe that a sense of belonging and inclusion is central to musical growth and success. We do this by promoting a culture of collaboration in our large ensemble programming.

Four panels show different pictures of choirs and bands performing. Music reads down the side.

Many students who participate in Arts Huron find that our large ensemble experience is where they find a true sense of belonging. For many, the HHSS Music program is a second family of sorts.

Students who enter the Arts Huron Music program come from a variety of experiences and abilities. All are welcome.

Unique opportunities to develop your musical skills and expression may include: solo and small ensemble performance, workshops and lessons with guest artists and professional musicians, field trip opportunities to the Canadian Opera Company, Roy Thomson Hall, Massey Hall, Metalworks Recording Studio, the Canadian Music Centre, the Univerisity of Toronto Faculty of Muisc, and other locations around the GTA, as well as other special events hosted by the Arts Huron program. As students advance, there are more opportunities for specialized study of jazz, teaching, arranging, composition, conducting, and performance of standard symphonic and chamber repertoire.
