Arts Huron Consortium Project with CMC Ontario
The Huron Heights Secondary School Music Department (Newmarket, ON) is proud to announce its second Consortium Project in collaboration with the Canadian Music Centre Ontario. This year, the Arts Huron Music Program is commissioning a new work by Canadian composer Michelle Lorimer.
This versatile new composition is written for SATB Choir and Concert Band, specifically designed for maximum flexibility. It is performable as a full combined ensemble, as a standalone piece for Concert Band (including optional parts for acoustic guitar and piano), or for Choir with Piano.
The work will be premiered in early May 2026 by the Huron Heights Symphonic Band and Chamber Choir, under the direction of Scott Cameron and Arlene Charters.
Consortium Benefits & Delivery: Following the premiere, all scores and parts will be delivered to consortium members via electronic distribution by the Canadian Music Centre Ontario.

Intermediate Enrichment Band and Choir
Arts Huron Celebration of Music
The Arts Huron Intermediate Enrichment Band and Choir programs are open to students attending schools in the north of YRDSB. The band invites woodwind, brass, and percussion students in Grades 7 and 8 with previous experience playing their band instrument, and the choir invites all students who wish to sing in Grades 6 to 8. Students in both programs will learn a variety of music at an accessible level to ensure an engaging and challenging musical experience. Both groups learn from Huron Heights music teachers and guest conductors. Each group performs alongside Huron Heights ensembles and student mentors in an Arts Huron Celebration of Music concert. No formal audition is required. Ask your music teacher for more information! This program is now closed for 2026.
Huron Heights Jazz Summit
